Excellent hotel, great facilities & attitude
Lovely hotel with an ideal location in MBK mall, so plenty of facilities close to hand, as well as around Siam Square. Room was clean, roomy and very pleasant. USB connections made charging our devices a breeze - no plug adapters required. The room had a working safe, which I think is always important to know. We were on the 28th floor and had a nice view. Apart from some noisy motorbikes at night, noise was fine, even that wasn't too bad. Staff were always helpful and friendly, from reception to the security and room maids. We had an issue with a blocked loo that they took 2 attempts to fully resolve. Not only did we get an apology but also a free little box of cookies from the excellent ground floor cafe (which I would recommend as a nice place to chill between running around Bangkok) - we didn't expect that! Both times they immediately tried to fix the issue. Sometimes these things happen but their response really was excellent, we were most impressed. Other facilities which we didn't use were the 3 restaurants, breakfast and ground floor & 8th floor bars. These all looked nice but we usually prefer to look round the city for this kind of thing, so we didn't try them out. I had a look around the gym area, there was also a running track around the 8th floor roof, 2 tennis courts and an indoor badminton court. Would definitely recommend this hotel. I must admit I wasn't so sure reading some of of the online reviews but I can only give praise based on our experience.

Exceptional 10.0
Great hotel, only close to shopping - nothing else
Overall, the Pathumwan Princess was a great hotel, but just in a poor location is you are trying to actually explore Bangkok. There is nothing around the hotel except malls. It was difficult to find any restaurants within walking distances that were not in the malls around the hotel. If you're looking for street food & local restaurants within walking distance, this isn't the hotel for you. The beds & pillows were extremely comfortable. We did reserve a king room, but when we checked in at 4pm, they were already gone & they had to give us a queen room. The bell service was amazing and helped us out tremendously with taxis and our luggage when we needed to check out, but our flight wasn't until 10pm. A big complaint was that the second you check out of the hotel, you no longer have internet access. This was extremely frustrating and difficult when we had to check out at 11am and our flight wasn't until 10pm. Every place we wanted to see/visit in Bangkok - temples, Khoa San Rd, sky bars, restaurants, etc. were all at least a 25-30 minute taxi ride. Yes, the hotel is right next to a few malls and is attached to the MBK mall, but there is nothing else around it. The Pathumwan Princess does have an amazing fitness facility; it's so nice that they have memberships for it for the locals. There are sports courts and a lap swimming pool. It would have been nice to have a normal, relaxation pool to hang out in within everyone swimming laps, but it was part of the fitness club.

Poor 2.0
Really disappointing service and I was robbed
Lots of terrible things happened to me in this hotel but the worst was that I was robbed. Around $150 was stolen from my room. I wrote to the hotel and told them and asked them to investigate and inform me and they haven't even replied to my emails. I was travelling alone with my toddler son and not once did any staff member offer to help me. They did however tell us off on a number of occasions (riding the escalator - even though I was holding his hand - swimming in the wrong part of the pool - even though its a huge pool and there were only a couple of other people in there). Buffet breakfast was difficult as I had to leave my son to get food - nobody offered to help - the first morning they did not even bring me coffee and then later when I was chasing him around the restaurant they cleared our table and sat someone else there! The first night we met my friends in the lobby cafe. My son was screaming for water. The waitresses pretended not to see me wave so I went up and asked for some water. They looked at me like they didn't understand. I said it in Thai and they said they would bring it. I went back to the table then a while later a bottle of water is sitting up on the counter. I went and got it and asked for a glass - again they looked at me like they didn't understand. I was really frustrated by this stage as my son was still screaming. I took the bottle back and gave him a drink but seriously this is supposed to be a really good hotel. It is not.

Good 6.0
Pros: Hotel rooms were a good size with a nice view. They were clean and breakfast, although expensive by local standards, was very good. Good fitness center. Location is central and the direct access to the huge MBK / Siam Center mall complex is also a nice bonus. Cons: Two MAJOR cons -- 1) The doormen are crooks who claim to speak no english. They repeatedly DELIBERATELY forced hotel guests to overpay for Taxis and even sent away Taxi drivers who insisted on using the meter. When we refused to pay 300 Bhat for a trip we had previously paid <100 Bhat for, the doorman proceeded to refuse to call us a Taxi forcing us to wait outside for 25 minutes before we finally abandoned our attempt and walked off the property to catch a taxi instead. 2) One person in our party had to be hospitalized after contracting an infection from the hotel jacuzzi. This was within the first two nights of our stay and forced us to cancel the remainder of our planned Thailand travels to the south. In the hotel's defense, the area by the pool is very nice to sit at, but I would recommend to STAY AWAY FROM THE JACUZZIS. Takeaway: the hotel appears high end on the surface but has a few key flaws. I would not stay here again.

Very good 8.0
Proper service, great location
Hotel in perfect locationin city center, with 7-11 and Starbuck nearby the entrance and direct access to MBK makes the most of it - very convenient not to have to carry your shopping around. BTW greetings to very nice gentlemen who are at the hotels' MBK entrance. Also from all Paragon complex places one can walk comfortably and inside buildings most of time if needed. We had executive suite that was very comfortable, nicely planned and spacious with great city view (it was on on one of lower hotel floors) and very good WiFi. Pool is for those who really want to swim rather than hang around in water, for the latter there are 2 big hot tubes - and the water is really hot there. Note that small children are not allowed in hot tubs and in general the pool area is quiet and adults-oriented. Breakfasts are proper as they should be in 5-star hotel, you can have one at the poolside restaurant or downstairs in the bigger one. Business lounge could be better, it is located on one of ground floors so has no view and selection of snacks/drinks is very limited. Check in and out was smooth, bellboys and concierge do great job managing the big number of guests and their lagguage. In general, good experience and I recommend this hotel.
