Not value for money
Great location, friendly staff, great restaurant. Room very dark and claustrophobic, over heated and fan like a jet engine. Had to open windows to cool room. Bathroom tiny and dark, practically standing in toilet to use wash basin. We had stayed here before and had much better room last time.

GPH Noisy Pipes (Not Expected)
Very disappointed on how the staff handled an issue regarding the noisy pipes in our room. This stay was far from perfect. Although the aesthetics of the hotel appear to have remained intact, it seems as the hotel is in desperate need of some internal fixes. We were there for a 2-night stay to visit family and friends and decided to take our kids to one of our favorite hotels so that they can experience this well-appointed hotel. The issue we were experiencing only occurred late in the evening. The first night we started hearing the pipes creaking just after midnight. As it was late and still somewhat bearable, we didn't think much of it. Especially, living in NYC for about 15 years in the past, we were familiar with the noises these heater pipes can sometimes create. Our last night was a whole other story. We arrived back at the hotel very late and were exhausted from an entire day of activities. Again after midnight, the pipes began to creak. The difference this time was that it got progressively worse. It got so loud that the pipes sounded like they were exploding. This progressed for the rest of the morning. I didn't bother calling down to the front desk as it was about 2AM and I thought what can they really do for us. When we checked out, I explained the situation to the clerk and I all we got was a "sorry for the inconvenience." We left feeling as if our stay at their hotel was not appreciated. Sadly, we will not be returning. Too many other options.

Beautiful, but...
The hotel is beautiful. The staff is welcoming and friendly. However, during the night, our room was plagued by the loudest heating noises ever heard. Hotel management was responsive and offered a discount. Also, all the facilities (bar, terrace) were occupied by private events, so we could only peek but not enjoy the otherwise beautiful amenities.

Very Good8.0
Some refresh needed
Having stayed many times at GPH, I must say, the beds and A/C units are in real need of an upgrade. Beds are excessively firm and bordering on uncomfortable. A/C - heat units are noisy and rattle excessively. We were in a Suite as well. The character and vibe is great as always, but we won't be back until we know that these improvements have been made.

Oasis In Midtown
This hotel suits the Gramercy Park location oasis of old New York amid the hustle and bustle of southern midtown. Though the hotel opened in 1925, it has been completely updated to a trendy but comfortable style, with low lighting and dark furnishings. The room was large and comfortably appointed; a nice place to be. You didn't feel like you had to rush out onto the streets. We would definitely go back there.
