You won't be disappointed!!
The Montague was absolutely amazing! From the service, to the room, to the convenience of public transport, I have nothing but high praise for this wonderful hotel. The staff members could not do enough for us and were so so friendly and welcoming. The room was gorgeous. Although it was a little small (to be expected for the middle of London), the furnishings were so beautiful and luxurious that we felt like royalty! Room service was impeccable and they left little treats for us with the turn-down service. The hotel is close to public transport - Russell Square underground station is only a few minutes walk away and it is on the Piccadillly Line which takes you right into Covent Garden, Leicester Square, Piccadilly Circus and more.

Superbly trained staff within great comfort.
We decided to stay again at at the Montague as I had a book launch in Bedford Square. We had stayed there before and enjoyed it but on this occasion the quality of service and care from the staff was absolutely superb. Our room was changed very willingly and then an extra chest of drawers brought in to increase the available storage. We were there for several days and my wife had a minor medical emergency, after which every staff member recognized us and expressed concern: amazing! The room was very comfortable, the only concern being that the lighting did not support reading in bed. The food was very good for all meal types, the only concern being that at breakfast the buffet left some items a little tired and over-cooked, but freshly cooked eggs were available on request. It being a cold wet March we were not able to enjoy the terraces overlooking the Gardens as we had on previous visits. Butoverall we were very happy to be staying there and will certainly return.

Outstanding service and location, however...
Stayed at the Montague for 5 nights before xmas to celebrate anniversary. Great hotel and literally the most thoughtful service we have ever had. We received numerous gifts and personally signed notes from the manager and staff. The location cannot be beat. The bars and lounge are wonderful places to hang out and the food was excellent. Being a Georgian building the rooms are small and the floors creaky, but the king bed was excellent, the bathroom fine, and a nice big flat screen. Only had two quibbles with this excellent choice for a Bloomsbury hotel. First, booked as a VIP Gold member with which provides upgraded room if available. We did not get one and the hotel seemed far from fully booked. Never saw more than a few other guests and seldom even heard people in other rooms on our floor. Even one night in an upgrade would have been really nice given the small size of the Classic room we booked, just one night to spread out and organize our luggage a bit would have made this one of our top hotel stays ever. So perhaps a bit stingy on the upgrades? To be clear, we do not know that there were upgrades available, it just seemed given the lack of guests in view that there may well have been, at least for a night or two. The one ding against the staff was one of the concierges did not follow up with us on a minor request to contact a pub to see if it was open on xmas eve. All in all, an excellent choice, but don't count on a room upgrade!
