One of the nicest hotels I have stayed in
We have just come back from an amazing long weekend in Amsterdam. Everything about this hotel is modern, Spacious and fresh looking from the second you enter the lobby. We arrived about 10am and knew we wouldn’t be able to check in until 3pm, so the hotel took our cases whilst we went off and had a look round the city and to Anne Franks house. The hotel is just over the bridge from central station and is in walking distance to most tourist attractions. We did also get a tram ticket so we could go and do some excursions further away (I Amsterdam sign, Heineken experience). For me It was the little things that made this hotel amazing- a huge rainfall shower head (with really good pressure), powerful hair dryer in the bathroom, huge mirror across the bathroom wall. No ceiling lights but everywhere had up and down lighting and lamps so the room was really bright. There was an english plug socket at the desk area, and the plug sockets either side of the bed had USB ports which was so handy for charging my phone. Plenty of English channels on the tv (not that you come away to watch tv but quite nice for when you get into bed). Really comfy beds with 3 different pillow firmness to choose from. Large built in wardrobes along the wall as you walk in. Also provided with robes and slippers. The staff were so accommodating and were there if you needed anything and were so helpful with recommendations (our first time to Amsterdam) 100% recommend!!

Lovely hotel, great location amazing staff
On arrival we were greeted by such lovely staff and from then on the service just kept on getting better and better! When checking in our room was unavailable so we were given a choice of a few room upgrades for free without any hesitation we choose the canal view king-size bed ground floor would recommend. We had an issue with the air con and I tell you not from me walking to reception and coming back to our room the maintenance team were there. You can clearly see at this hotel that it is well maintain and looked after believe me we usually only stay at 4* & 5* hotels and this hotel was definitely worth it's rating. Thank you to the wonderful staff I love great customer service and all members of staff we came into contact with were great! already asking the over half it he wants to go back in June or another NH Collection hotel in another destination just hope they provide the same service as this hotel! Oh and thank you for my beautiful platter :-) there was a problem the morning after we booked in and our room was showing as available so a member of staff came to check took my details and apologised for disturbing us bearing in mind it was 3pm was no problem, but again great customer service we went out for the day and came back to a lovely sweet platter of fruits and chocolate. If you're looking for a hotel centrally located, great services and amazing staff book here I never leave reivews and we going away 2-3 times a year but his hotel deserved it.

Good
Central, small rooms, dated, could be a lot better
For the most part friendly staff. I booked an 800 square foot room. The room was not close to 800 square feet. Upon check in many dead & wilted flower arrangements in my room. I brought one down to the desk to let them know. They didn't seem to care. They were never changed for my 5 day stay. For extra towels, room cleaning etc had to ask them. Often the room was left in unclean condition for days. The bathroom was very small and dated. The room had 3 staircases which was very odd and bizarre inefficient use of space. The location of the hotel was prime to the Train Station and many other local attractions. The concierge was great. The lobby was nice and the lobby bar restaurant and staff quite pleasant. When we go to Amsterdam again this hotel will be a pass. I would rather stay at somewhere with more luxurious quarters and a staff that better understands service. I believe I was sold the wrong room as I checked the hotel website and the only room they have listed at 800 sf is a suite with a balcony that appeared to be on one level. I believe there to be a bit of bait and switch in the rooms here.

Don’t stay here!
I booked and paid for a room for 3 adults and didn’t arrive at the hotel to check in until 8pm. At check in the receptionist told me there should be an extra bed in the room and if there was not I should dial number nine on the phone and they would bring the bed styrofoam the room. There was no extra bed in the room so I dialled 9 on the phone and was told someone would bring the bed straight away. After waiting more than an hour no bed arrived. I then went out to eat in the city. On my return at 11pm there was still no bed so I went down to the reception to find out what was going on. I was told the hotel was busy and there was no apolog. The bed arrived about an hour later. One of the reasons I booked this hotel was that it had air conditioning, however this never worked and it was like being stuck in an oven. I ask reception could they check it but they never bothered. I went on some trips in Amsterdam throughout the day and each time I returned to the room it still hadn’t been cleaned. On the 3rd occasion that day I returned at 5pm and still it hadn’t been cleaned! I went to reception to complain and again there was no apology, I was just told that rooms are cleaned up until 6pm. I would also like to add that the extra bed that was provided was like a dolls bed and not fit for an adult. I’m not a fussy person and I am quite easy to please but the above situation was unfair after paying £300 a night for a room! I would never stay therl again. Or ever recommend it!

Just ok. Not 5 star
Honestly not sure how this hotel is rated 5 star. On my confirmation it said shower/tub combo for superior room. I got to room and had shower only. I went to front desk and was told that if I wanted to keep my queen bed, those rooms are shower only and tubs are only in twin bed rooms. So I have to choose. I ended up moving to a twin bed room as the queen bed in the first room was rock hard and sqeeking. Could definitely not sleep on it. The linens were not premium bedding as mentioned to me. The pillows were half the size or normal pillows. A/C barely worked. I mentioned a couple things to the hotel staff with little care back...just the usual "well we have never heard that before."?? At 8pm, totally jet lagged, I asked for a couple coffee capsules. At 9pm when my room service came, I was told that they can't find the coffee as that's with housekeeping who are not on duty anymore. I then Said, you mean to tell me a 5 star hotel cannot get a guest a coffee capsule? Seriously? The girl clearly understood how her statement to me must have sounded. Then at 10:30pm a man showed up at my door miraculously with the coffee. At 7am I went to front desk to ask where I can have breakfast. I was greeted with "well your booking doesn't have breakfast included". Then twice during my breakfast by 2 different people I was advised my room doesn't include it. If you're looking for a true 5 star property this is NOT one. In future I would not use this property again due to the staff/comfort
