This is the hotel to go to if you value dealing with talented staff who care about their guests. From the moment you walk in the door and are greeted by the doorman to the time you get to your room it is very clear that you are staying in a premium hotel (though the prices for the rooms are really no different than any other downtown hotel) The rooms are spotless, well appointed, super quiet and don't be surprised if a staff member leaves you a box of chocolates or knocks on your door in the early evening to deliver complimentary cookies...with a smile. DId not eat at the restaurant but the lounge is terrific, great ambiance, fair pricing and wicked good service. Speaking of wicked good service, last call is at midnight and the lounge closes up at 1am. When we were there after a concert it was around 12:40 am and a group of three walked in for a glass of wine. Everything was closed and locked up and the manager Sabrina had her coat and touque on and was walking out the door.....When she saw the customers she told them that the lounge was closed for the evening..but before they could respond she asked if they were staying at the hotel. When they said yes, she simply took off her coat and touque and told them that she would take care of them. She opened up the bar, unlocked everything and got them a bottle of wine. Did not matter to her at all that she was delayed going home by at least a half hour. All that mattered to her was that the customers were taken care of. WARNING

Retirement Celebration
Decided I didn't want a retirement party and instead treated myself to a stay at the Wedgewood and a wonderful dinner at Bacchus. What a delightful evening! I was upgraded to a one bedroom suite and, within minutes of arriving in my room, received a call to be sure everything was ok. A few minutes later, a nice gentleman arrived with a box of chocolates and ice. The room was beautiful with every convenience you would expect to find in a top hotel. It even had a balcony with chairs. There was a Nespresso machine with real cream in the fridge (I hate that powdered creamer). The bedroom also had a TV, a power unit for charging your toys and, of course, a very comfortable bed. The bathroom had a very deep tub, nice thick towels and a lighted makeup mirror. Robes were also provided. Dinner at Bacchus was amazing. I started with a glass of champagne in the lounge and had a nice chat with the bartender who I later learned had been there for 27 years. Later I had an amazing dinner and enjoyed the live entertainment. Service was impeccable. Also had breakfast at Bacchus and was served by a woman who had been there for 24 years. I think the fact that the staff stay at this property for long periods of time is indicative of how this property has always been run. We have lots of wonderful hotels in Vancouver but I'm so glad I chose the Wedgewood.

Great Hotel
I traveled to Vancouver for work and this hotel was recommended to me by the client I was going to see in Vancouver and what a great recommendation it was. Old style service and charm mixed with beautiful decor and great food. The hotel is part of the Chateau & Relais organization so that in itself implies there is a high level of commitment to food and service and that is obvious from the moment you step in to the hotel. The lobby bar is a great spot to meet up with others or as I did, have a quiet glass of wine and something to eat after a long work day. The room I had was a junior suite and had a small separate living area with couch and also a balcony with a lounge chair although it rained the few days I was there so did not use that. Also, the view from the balcony was not particularly good. The bed and room itself were very comfortable and nightly, someone would deliver cookies and ensure the ice bucket was filled. The hotel is also located in a perfect spot to downtown and was just a 5 minute walk to the office tower I was working at which was near Pacific Mall. I am very pleased to have chosen this hotel and would most definitely return.

Expected More....
Let's be clear, the staff and service are outstanding. The Junior Suite on the 3rd floor however is not. I've stayed in enough hotel rooms on business so I will admit that I most likely have a higher expectation of a hotel and it's condition. The Wedgewood is highly reviewed and I'm not exactly sure what people are talking about. Perhaps there are renovated rooms on higher floors that I haven't seen, but the Junior suite I stayed in looked out onto the alley. There were homeless people going through on a regular basis and there was an exhaust fan output about 15' from my balcony. The room itself was clean and well presented, but the room is very dated and requires an update of some sort in order to stay relevant. This isn't exactly what I had in mind staying at the Wedgewood. It was for only one night so I wasn't going to comment to the front desk, but needless to say I will not be returning. It is a very convenient location for people traveling to the city. In the heart of it all, so if you are looking for location this is a place to consider. However, I would suggest it should be taken at a good price point rather than overpaying when there are so many other options to choose from. The bar downstairs is fantastic as well.

You’ll be greeted by a friendly doorman. Staff are warm, helpful, and chatty. There is a family atmosphere and nothing is a problem. Incidental things are handled fast and with a smile. We had a sunny beautiful room overlooking the street with a balcony and sliding door perfect for a rest in the afternoons or hearing the buzz of the city when open. We loved it. Gym and a patio with loungers to sit is nice to have. Beautiful travertine large shower, hot with great pressure, comfy bed. The restaurant Baccus pictured on site with the velvet sofas is a must. On a nice day they open up the folding windows to let the day in. They offer afternoon tea, wine and charcuterie and a pianist in the afternoons and of course dinner. Room service also comes from their fine kitchen. It was our favorite spot after walking about all day. Our other 2 favorite spots within a block away to eat were Earls Test Kitchen and Hy’s Steak House. The hotel is located dead in the middle of the city so walking is easy if you don’t have a car like us. Nordstrom is across the street if you forgot something. Credit cards are used everywhere for purchases and tips on remote devices including cabs so don’t fret about having cash because you don’t need it. The hotel is really great coming from a gal who likes things just right and has high expectations.
