Stop looking and book the Rose!
Absolutely fantastic. Staff are friendly and helpful.. The lady that checked us in (at 11pm! Thanks to a delayed flight) was wonderful and even upgraded our room to a waterfront view. The hotel is in a nicer part of town and just across from the water. Walking distance to everything. Will definitely stay there again.

Quirky, cute place, need attention to details
Wanted something a bit more funky than the chain hotels. Had high hopes for Hotel Rose and was DISMALLY disappointed! Room was very small, only large enough for bed on one wall and desk/dresser combo against the other wall. Only chair was the desk chair and there was very little room to walk around the bed. Dirty carpet turned my sox black on bottom. Dresser drawers would not stay closed and I now sport bruises from running in to them more than once. Bathroom was small; shower with dribble shower head. It's supposed to be a rain shower but water pressure so poor it took 15 min of rinsing to get the shampoo out of my shoulder-length hair. Hot water in sink also dribbled out. Staff did not mention there was a marathon being run across the street w/ loud PA system that started at 6:30AM. Our 4th floor room was terribly noisy with commuter train noise about every 15 min and a fire station one block down the street with sirens often under your window. Building would benefit from double-pane windows or sound-proofing. So saying, the staff was AWESOME and helped us find a restaurant, gave great directions and clued us in to a unique donut place. Nice robes & umbrellas in each room with Keurig coffee & tea available. Lobby area was OK but property overall could have used a little refresh. Cute little pineapple cupcakes offered in lobby but the one I took was still frozen. We had 3 great meals at Bottle & Kitchen restaurant; wonderful food, great waiters.

Not quite 4 stars
This hotel claims to be 4 stars, but being someone who travels quite a bit, I would classify this as 3 stars, especially considering the other 4 star hotels in the downtown area. Details were generally missing for a 4 star hotel, and staff was not very helpful (had to come down to the front desk to get a bottle opener, for example). Tip: if this hotel is priced the same as another 4 star hotel - go with the other one. That being said, this hotel was very colorful, was in a good location, offered free bikes to get around the city which was nice. Beds were very comfortable and had nice down blankets. TV was large and new, another plus. But, felt the bathroom set up was not great - open concept let water out everywhere, low shower pressure, and the room just felt dated. We faced a main road so it was noisy as well.

I got a great deal on hotels.com for a room here. After checking in, we were given a handicapped room which did not include an enclosed shower. We went back downstairs and asked for a different room. The hotel representative was happy to do that and told us that it was a "slight" upgrade from our original room. Overall impression is that everything was nice and clean. For a king size bed, there were two smaller blankets/comforters-fine for a couple that does not sleep next to each other but difficult for those that do because using just one was too small. It was difficult to keep the rest of the bathroom dry when showering so we had to place towels all over the floor afterwards.
