    My husband and I had an excellent stay at the Gore Hotel on a recent weekend in London. The location couldn’t be better, with beautiful Hyde Park just 100m away, tube and bus stops nearby and stunning walks all around the hotel. The hotel is beautiful, clean and nice and quite at nighttime. The staff were lovely and very helpful. Great breakfast in the beautiful front room. We would definitely stay again, it was delightful!

    Nothing like like the pictures

    We couldn’t wait to stay here the pictures looked amazing! However, that excitement was short lived when we arrived, the room was nothing like any of the pictures, chipped paint and warped wallpaper , water damage , the only thing that slightly resembled anything in the picture were the heavy drapes and bed. Service was really good. Checking our bill at the end we noticed we had been charged for things that we shouldn’t have been for example breakfast which should have been included in the room price. Overall, would I stay here again? No. Would I recommend? Very unlikely

    “Faulty” Towers

    Extraordinary Fawlty Towers experience in a well regarded hotel. Chosen because we’d enjoyed a pre-concert drink in the bar previously, but on this occasion it was closed for filming. Staff were welcoming but room service didn’t arrive and we then discovered the shower wouldn’t heat up. Hilariously, when we asked for help to get hot water a waitress appeared with a teapot of boiling water and milk jug! Eventually got reassigned to an “upgrade” in a fifth floor attic beyond the range of the lift. Unable to get our prepaid breakfast the next morning because there was no room in the restaurant and a very long wait. Other customers were complaining of waiting over an hour for a cooked breakfast and failure to get drinks ordered to their room. Pleasant staff and “quirkiness” alone do not make for a good stay - the management need to get on top of these maintenance and organisational problems.
