New hotel has some issues to resolve, nice rooms
I stayed at the Dakota for 5 nights and really it is a lovely hotel as it is brand new but they have serious issues with their heating/cooling systems in rooms and their hot water, as well as some staff being pretty clueless. The manager, Tom, is trying his hardest to appease guests but be aware, you might not have heat or hot water if you stay at this hotel. On my first night they struggled to find a room that had a heating system that worked. I was finally given a room at 11.50pm! The hotel was empty as it was Sunday night and they told me it was not busy. Being cold and tired and being moved about late at night really wasn't a great start to my week there. Tom did decide to give me complementary breakfasts all week the next day to compensate as a gesture of good will but I was so exhausted that really although a nice gesture, it didn't help me recover from being freezing and the tiredness from all of the shananigans. Then after 2 nights the hot water stopped working so no one could have a shower that morning (unless you love cold water!). They did fix it by 9am but obviously it was a bit late for getting out to my conference on time. When I checked out on the Friday Tom kindly came over and told me he had written off my incidentals. A nice touch but I really had lost faith by that stage. Service is mixed, some were great, some were in dire need of training. The plus points - lovely comfy beds, rooms are a good size and everything is still like new so nothing is worn out.

Good Stay, Would Recommend. Great Decor
First impressions very good, I dropped my wife off and went to park the car. When I arrived the hotel had asked my wife to sign a form even though the booking was in my name, so wasn't too pleased about that. I was then asked to show my booking email as they didn't seem to be able to find me in their systems. Apart from this hiccup, the hotel is amazing, definitely worth a stay. Room service was a little slow, took them 25 minutes to bring us some ice. Decor was lovely in the room. There was no mini bar, and no bath robes or slippers which I was surprised by. Overall a good experience, would stay there again.

A fantastic hotel
This hotel was amazing. The staff were great, the check-in friendly efficient and quick. The room I was given was superb. The bed was really comfortable, the bathroom very high spec. The pushbutton shower was a good touch, it took the "cold water from an unexpected direction" fear away! The hotel is pretty much brand new so everything was in good condition as you'd expect. However, all the fixtures & fittings felt of very high quality, so I think they'll stay that way. I stay in hotels often, so am a little jaded I guess......but the Dakota was a special experience that I hope to repeat again soon.

The Dakota Manchester has the sort of standards you expect to be a "given", but rarely find. I stay in a great deal of hotels and there's usually something you can find that leaves you feeling a bit disappointed as what you've paid just doesn't stack up with what you actually get. This hotel is worth every penny. Beautiful rooms all over the hotel, spotlessly clean, bathroom to die for and they've actually thought about female guests needing mirrors near plugs (my pet peeve in many!) Meeting facilities great, lots of quiet areas as well as the option to book private rooms and menus not over done. Every one of the staff helpful and happy. Nice and handy for the station. Great job you guys.

5 star hotel
From the moment we arrived, we felt in good hands. The hotel oozes luxury and opulence. There are good sized rooms with very comfortable beds, although on the smaller side (but we chose the queen room). The staff members who were always on hand to help were always friendly and welcoming. We spoke to one bar tender/waiter in particular who gave us great recommendations for bars and places to see/eat. The cigar terrace is lovely for a nice quiet drink. The outdoor fireplaces are such a nice touch. The hotel itself is very central and close to public transport which is handy. I would definitely recommend others to stay here, if travelling to Manchester.
