Stayed a few times but won't again
I've been here a few times now but sadly I think this will be my last stay. Whenever I've stayed here my room has been near to one of the close by night club / bars and the noise from there goes on till nearly 3am , that paired with other people staying at the hotel who don't seem to know how to shut a damn door quietly at all hours through the night and morning , I have never had a decent night's sleep here and I always sleep like a log usually!. Also I do find sometimes the staff to be not the most forthcoming and friendly , compared to other hotels in Cardiff , sometimes you don't even get any chat at check in or check out , or you wait a while to be seen while they are chatting among themselves which I think is quite rude. I will say though the location (near by noisy clubs and bars aside) is great, right in the center near shops etc , the cleanliness is really top notch and always has been , and the rooms are usually a decent size.

Nice comfortable hotel, close to shops
We enjoyed our stay. There was renovation going on to build a new restaurant so the foyer was compromised, with boards and workmen, but it was clean and not noisy. The staff were very good, friendly and helpful with welsh-cakes, biscuits and hot chocolate to treat us with. We were there to see family and xmas was getting into full swing, a lovely victorian roundabout on corner, lots of xmas market stalls, mulled wine, ice-rink & fair in nearby park by town hall. The hotel is next to the main shopping streets and malls, although shops like John Lewis are at the train-station end of town which is about 15 minutes walk. The castle is close, expensive to get in but very interesting, we also went to a vintage fair and down to Cardiff Bay for a meal. There is free access to the gym next door to the hotel which was good, although you have to go into the street to access it. We had an issue with noise from a water tank so were moved into a suite on the last night. The first room was comfortable - lovely big bed, bit of a tight squeeze round it. The suite had a huge amount of space (could do with more furniture) very comfy bed, with a walk-in wardrobe and small bathroom.

The location was close to restaurants and a very large mall. Also not a long walk to the castle. Would ask for a room away from the street which was very noisy until 3 am with partying at an outdoor bar down the block. Parking is essentially nonexistent . Closest car park is 2 blocks and very expensive with no “in and out”. There is no drop off out front of the hotel so pull your luggage the whole way. We found the tub would not drain because of a very large long clog of black hair in the drain and very dusty window sills. We spoke with the manager and she was very apologetic and sought to immediately fix the problem. She was great.

Good hotel
Busy hotel with a good central location. However a few points of note. It was a bit dusty. I think the 'air conditioning' system was blowing out a lot of dust as the surfaces seemed clean (apart from the hangers in the wadrobe which we had to clean as they were coated in dust). There is no 'air conditioning' as setting the room temperatue to 16c did nothing. Room was a bit too hot as a result. There are huge windows which make the room very light to sleep in. There are no blackout curtains. There was no Bath only a shower which leaked badly into the hallway as the shower tray is not adequate to keep the water in the area. Toilet paper was very thin and cheap too! Parking was very very expensive. When we arrived the hotel cark park was marked as full on the gate. So we parked in the nearby NCP car park which was very expensive. When we checked the cark park after check-in there were quite a few spaces. It is not clear why it was blocked off as full. There was a wedding on as well as a book fair which may account for the sign??? We did manage to move the car for the second night into the hotel car park which was a little less expensive.

Central Cardiff hotel
We stayed here on a Saturday night because our usual hotel was sold out. The hotel is in a very good location and the staff are all friendly and professional. I requested a quiet room when I booked and we were given a room at the back of the hotel, very quiet. The room itself was very small and had tatty furniture, lots of marks/scratches on the wood etc. however the bed was very comfortable. The room was clean but again there were lots of marks on the walls/carpet, not the cleaner's fault, just wear and tear. The small window looked onto heating pipes so it was very dark but it was fine for an overnight stay or as a base. At £179 for a night, it seems overpriced, basically you are paying for location, we usually pay around this price but stay in a different Cardiff hotel.
