8/10 Very good

There was one older gentleman at the front desk who was wonderful. There was two other people at the front desk who had no business being the hotels first impression. I wondered where the southern hospitality was. Food at the restaurant was wonderful. Bell people were very helpful & friendly. Room was beautiful!

Bogie and Bacall
Fantastic atmosphere. It's like stepping into a Humphrey Bogart movie. Big band jazz playing in an elegant early-mid 20th century lobby. It wasn't populated with guests but it was easy to picture well dressed men and ladies in hats with a hardboiled hotel detective on watch. The rooms are small but well appointed with well preserved furniture from the period, windows that actually open, and no overhead lighting, just lamps. Kind of just right for an overnight, see? Bathroom has a deep old fashioned porcelain tub with piping hot water for a good evening soak. Some travelers might be put off by the age and date of this grande dame, but for me it hit the spot. It's Lauren Bacall and Margaret Dumont all rolled into one. Nice change from the bland styling of modern hotels that evoke nothing for romantic travelers, or try too hard. This hotel and me? It just might be the beginning of a beautiful friendship.

Enjoyed our stay!
Beautiful hotel. Walkable to almost everything and a free Dash shuttle to other areas of the city. A comfortable room and daily maid service if you want it. Daily coffee service in lobby in mornings but always empty. Otherwise there is coffee in your room (not good) or Starbucks $$$ in hotel. That’s the only complaint. Definitely would stay there again.
