4/10 Fair

Nice Entrance. This hotel is not meant for travellers. Inefficient staff. My wife is Japanese and asked for a taxi to the airport and to make it one that would take our luggage. The receptionist had know idea and started to draw a picture of a taxi to see if would be ok!! No scales to weigh luggage! Waseda University is nearby and the whole hotel seems to cater to families who are visiting students. Not knowledgable staff in any department, no idea of local buses.

6/10 Good

Older style hotel, felt like in the 80s 90s needs some revamping. The pictures make it look fancier than it is. We were in our 30s and felt it was something our parents would stay in. Good staff and clean hotel. Just wasn't for our age. Staff lacks English so hard to check in and out. A bit out of the way of the spots we wanted to visit. Closest metro station is 10 min walk

6/10 Good

We were shocked to learn that individual guest have to pay to use the gym and swimming pool. It costs around $50 each time to use the facilities. After much protest on my part about the lack of disclosure, we were given passes to use the fitness center and the swimming pool. We ( my wife) used the pool once as the rest of our group lost interest as we did not feel particularly welcome. I placed the blame on management policy and not the staff. I have always found the staff friendly and attentive but they have limited authority as to what they can or cannot do Also in the time that we were there, the pool and fitness center was closed for alleged maintenance, The award winning Chinese Restuarant was also closed. This definitely limited our choices The ability to swim in an indoor pool during winter was a major factor in our decision to stay at the Rhiga Tokyo. Being told that we have to pay to use the fitness center and pool makes us regret our choice. From that point onwards ( after our very expensive in the hotel's Japanese Restuarant) we avoided Rihga other dining outlets as we no longer felt like valued guests.

Very elegant hotel- sort of old world style. Staff very nice and tried hard. Garden was closed when we were there so that was disappointing. Breakfast was excellent and worth the extra cost
