About this cabin

Welcome to Tasmania and all the beautiful seasons!

My home is based high up on a hill in Central North Tasmania, yet only 10 minutes drive to the main town, Ulverstone, and the many beaches!

The accommodation available is a studio room (the cabin!) with a kitchen area and your own separate bathroom. A cozy weekend getaway, with, I'm told, the comfiest queen bed!!!

Just to note: There is no rubbish collection up here, so please take your own rubbish away with you. Also, this is a non smoking environment, both within and without the buildings.

A choice of cotton sheets or flannelette are available. Flannelette is great for that extra 'coziness' when it's cold outside!

Warm as toast on the inside with a wall heater, electric blankets AND two hot water bottles - the last two of which you won't need but might just like to have the option to use :) There is a pedestal fan available to keep cool with on those warm days.

I have designated this accommodation for two people only, however, babies and pre-toddlers in their own porta-cots are also very welcome :)

The Powerhouse Studio @ Eagles Rise is now available on a separate listing. This accommodation can sleep up to five people.

There are some dvds available for your use, as well as some well loved board games! There is also a dvd rental shop in town, still! :)

A bath seat also available, should someone need it for an easier shower. Just let me know.

The cabin is attached to the main house with a separate hallway in between. The West facing sliding doors out to the carport which will be your main entryway. This area is where you will park your vehicle. All windows in the cabin are double glazed and fly screened. Very cozy!!

There is also a little private garden on the Eastern side of the house, where you can have your morning coffee, or dine under the stars. There is a Weber BBQ there also available for your use.

When you don't feel like cooking, you can have Pizza delivered to your door by the Red Grasshopper in town! There is also Pedros for fish and chips - takeaway or the Pedros restaurant on the water, Jade Willow for a delicious Chinese meal and Buttons Brewery for a great place to sit and eat, as well as drink local brews, on the Ulverstone Wharf, as well as many others!

A picnic backpack is also available, should you wish to go somewhere for a picnic.

The property is on 35 acres in a rural area, with many tourist attractions nearby, such as Leven Canyon, Gunns Plains Caves, Wings Wildlife Park (Tasmania's largest wildlife/animal park) and Cradle Mountain is only 82 kilometres away.

It's a great spot to base yourself whilst traveling around this area of Tasmania, or even if you are just breezing through!

Being in a pocket of many creative cottage industries, there is a myriad of art galleries to explore, as well as antique stores and lots of little cafes to relax in and drink excellent coffee! Penguin beach is only 15 minutes away, where there is a large Sunday market to browse. The well renowned 'Wild' restaurant that was in Penguin, is now Mrs Jones and based in Devonport. Book ahead!

The nearest airport is Devonport Airport, 30 minutes drive from the house. Devonport harbour, where the Spirit of Tasmania comes in from Melbourne, is only 25 minutes. A flight from Melbourne to Devonport is around one hour. Launceston Airport is an hour and a half drive away and to

Hobart from Eagles Rise, it is around a three and a half to four hours drive.

Looking forward to meeting you and here's a list of nearby things to see and do :)

Leven Canyon

Gunns Plain Caves

Wing Wildlife Park

Lilico Beach Conservation Area, you will see Penguins from September to March.

Cradle Mountain and Dove Lake (82 km)

Narawntapu National Park (60 km)

Local Beaches - Penguin Beach, Ulverstone Beach, Buttons Beach, Turners Beach and more!

Walking and cycling tracks

Vineyards - Ghost rock Vineyard in Port Sorell

Turners Beach Berry Patch

Anvers Chocolate Factory

- there are many more! I will be sending you a pdf via email with all the info :)

There is internet access but it can be intermittent as it is wireless and is therefore affected by the weather!

There is a private guest garden, with a picnic bench, table and chairs and the barbeque :)

When I am here, I am as visible or invisible as my guests require :) I had one couple, newly weds, that I didn't see for four days!!! :) And then I've enjoyed lovely chats with others, sitting watching the sunset during cocktail hour! :)

To be sensitive to the needs of my guests is important to me, and even when I am away, I am always accessible, as well as having someone looking after the place for me in my absence.

I love my neighbourhood because of the people in it and the marvellous views that surround me up here.Any neighbour that you might knock on the door asking for help, will be there for you.

The local Gawler General Store on Gawler Road is definitely one of those! Susan is a friend and is one of the most helpful and kind people I know. She is at 170 Gawler Road, on your way up here and open from 7am to 7pm week days. Petrol is available there too, along with yummy snacks and coffee :)

No public transport, except the school bus in the morning! You wanted to 'get away' didn't you?!

There are taxi cabs from Devonport airport that can bring you up here, but I would suggest a hire car if you don't have your own, so that you can visit all there is to see around here.

Come to relax, enjoy 'you' in the peaceful place that is Eagles Rise and delight in all that is around you :)

If you have other friends or family traveling with you, 'The Powerhouse @ Eagles Rise' studio is now completed! It is primarily set up as a photographic studio, but has all the accommodation needs and is set it up on Airbnb currently.

I look forward to meeting you!

Kindest regards

Kit

A beautiful cabin escape, the most comfortable bed, spotless room and only ten minutes from town!

It is said that Tasmania has the freshest air in the World and you can definitely experience this up at Eagles Rise! The cabin is exactly all that it is described as and more. A very homely feeling that makes you wish you had stayed longer! The host Kit is a true host and is around when needed and invisible when not! The abundance of veggies from her garden were very much enjoyed! The plans Kit has for upgrades such as an extension and a deck for the cabin sound fabulous! We will have to return to check it all out! If you are wanting a genuine hosted property for a wonderful getaway in the clouds, Eagles Rise is the place to be! Enjoy! We did! :)

    Absolute bliss...

Eagles Rise was an amazing place to stay. The cottage was very cosy and had everything you would posssibly need and more. It was a short drive into nearest town which had a good selection of supermarkets, restaurants and variety shops. The host Kit was awesome, so friendly, helpful and went out of her way to ensure we had the perfect relaxing holiday. No hesitations whatsoever in recommending Eagle Rise if you’re playing to explore the beautiful north coast.

Beautiful location. Rural peace and quiet yet close to town, beaches and tourist spots. I used it as my base to explore the west part of the North Coast. Kit has thought of everything to make your stay comfortable and pleasant. Tippi is a treasure. I didn’t want to leave

Lovely place for a relaxing weekend away from the city; well thought-out and prepared for everything (even a surprise electrical storm and black-out, leading to a spontaneous candle-lit dinner!).The proprietor is friendly and helpful, and wasreadily accessible by phone and email even when away. Will recommend to friends, and hopefully have the chance to stay again sometime.

This delightful self contained accommodation attached to the main house met all our needs. A beautiful and quiet location enabled the rest and relaxation we sought. Nearby towns and places of interest gave us plenty to do as we wound down. Everything required for our five day stay was at hand and in top condition. highly recommended for all who ,like us, enjoy self catering accommodation.

A charming cabin that is really cozy and clean and has that rustic, homely feel, with the most comfortable of beds! After a long trip, the deep bath was good to soak in! In the morning, I sat in the East garden in the sunshine, with my maps and some excellent real coffee, provided in the unit! Kit, my host, was extremely welcoming and she shared good tourist information and chats. Good cups of tea too :) I will be thoroughly recommending to all, it is the perfect getaway location, yet so central to everything. Will definitely visit again! A place to arrive as strangers and part as friends :
