10/10 Exceptional

Lovely hotel. Very helpful and friendly staff.
Joe, 2-night trip

8/10 Very good

No frills .....

Although the hotel is looking "tired", e.g. light fittings hanging off in the bathroom, I felt safe. Just wanted somewhere to sleep for 1 night, therefore ideal

There is nobody in receiption all the time. No cafe. No sitting area. No bar. No restaurant. The room was warm and nice, but the bathroom was very cold because of the window that I could not close it, it was not fix.
Pedram, 3-night trip

2/10 Poor

Horrendeous , room nxt door was full of local drinkers , drug users who were shouting up to the occupant of the room from out side before been let in . The wall separating mine and his must of just been a partition wall as it sounded like they was sat on my bed it was that clear , the room was getting more busy of comings and goings , noise and talk getting louder and louder that at gone 9pm i thought this is going to get worse thru the night so i left and had to book myself into a holiday . NEVER EVER AGAIN !
lee, 1-night trip

2/10 Poor

Worst stay I’ve ever had, total waste of my time and money. Had to leave at 6am due to a guest next door shouting death threats etc all night at too of his voice and TV blasting. I could not settle at all. No staff intervened it went on all night shouting. No one answered the bell as mentioned on reception so could not speak to anyone. Zero support it just went on all night. Messaged hotels.com support they just provided an American phone number. Eventually had to just left before 6am as I was getting so angry not to mention it did not feel safe at all.

Such a shame as this could be a lovely hotel

This place is really run down. The member of staff there is very friendly but clearly out of his depth keeping on top of the place. I saw a review from March complaining about stains on the wall, broken toilet roll holder, stains on the ceiling and a loose toilet seat. I clearly had the same room with the same issues. There was a filthy spare duvet in the cupboard, the sheets had burn marks on them, the curtains were disgusting and the nets had a hole burned into them. The whole room stunk of cigarettes. Such a shame that the bar and restaurant were closed down and that the place had been poorly maintained as it could be great. That said, it's cheap, well located and the bed was comfortable.
Paula, 2-night trip

2/10 Poor

45 minutes after a resident let us in reception still didn’t answer their phone. Absolutely shocked how run down the place was and I’ve been working away for 14 + years, never came across anything as bad. OYO, wouldn’t answer their phone either
Dougie, 1-night trip

6/10 Good

Insanely comfortable bed, not for the squeamish!

Really difficult to review, at first view it is 0/5, it looked closed, no one answered the door, the car park was untidy, the surroundings were scruffy - but ......... the room was interesting nautical theme, cabin beds, some type of stuff on the side of the cabin bed (not sure what it was). But the room was warm, the beds were insanely comfortable, and there was wifi and a TV in the room. Some of the fixtures and fittings would shame the 70's, and badly needs a makeover. But you get what you pay for, and for cheap bed for the night, close to a bus stop that takes you into the heart of Newcastle in 10 minutes you cannot go wrong. So, on balance I would give this 3/5. It is after all a 2 star hotel so I wasn't expecting the Savoy.
Phil, 1-night trip

2/10 Poor

The rooms seemed clean enough but there was an overpowering smell of stale smoke. There was a car park at the back of the hotel but as the hotel was situated in an industrial area I drove my family there and collected them in the morning

filthy
pui yan, 1-night trip

8/10 Very good

Isolated location but enjoyable stay.

The hotel is in an isolated place but there is a sister pub/hotel nearby and many buses into town. The Metrocentre is nearby (a disappointment) and the Rowers has funky old fashioned ship-related decor with wooden panels and antiquated-style bathroom furnishings. The only drawback are the doors to each room which need to be pulled hard to close.

Return trip to Newcastle

14 June 2night stay greeted by hoist room clean parking good bed excellent hot water but slow to fill bath would have liked a bigger tv but only watched it a couple of hours over the stay met MR CASH at the second pub just a few minutes walk from our hotel made us extremely welcome good beer the customers showed us we’re to get bus into Newcastle big question would I stay hear again YES Would I recommend it. YES

Couldn't even get in the hotel, all locked up, looks derelict, ended up staying in another hotel down the road
1-night trip

10/10 Exceptional

I love the hotel, but it's clearly seen better days. On the other hand, it's also seen worse days, and management seems willing to make a go of it. I hope they succeed, as the property has wide staircases, large rooms and a large ensuite bathroom for our room. Location isn't great, but we enjoyed being able to walk to the Metro Centre for many dining options, including Ikea!

Clean and warm and everything worked but needs a some sort of update/refurb.

Stay here if you want a dirty filthy bathroom

Check in experience terrible, nearly walked away. Bathroom filthy, hairs on floor, used toiletries left on sink and cracked/broken tiles on floor. Cheap and cheerful is fine but didn't expect dirty. No-one around at check out so couldn't leave any comments. Friendly staff when found them eventually, but a dirty bathroom is not what I signed up for.

Can’t fault it
