0 stars because this hotel was not ready for guests. Thankfully I was rebooked to their sister hotel near the airport. And yes I did receive an email weeks before arrivving telling me the hotel was not ready for guests, but who really reads their emails. I would’ve preferred getting a call and explaining they rebooked me at a different location. So, I traveled 1.5 hours to find out Playa Esmeralda wasn’t open yet. I had to be driven back 1.5 hours back to the sister hotel (near airport- Dreams Cap Cana)

It has potential but still a lot of unfinished rooms, facilities, and final touches. The restaurants are under staffed, the food is decent but takes forever to get. If you happen to stop by your room for an afternoon nap all you can hear is banging from the rooms being finished above. Not the experience I was expecting!!

The hotel has potential, but there were several letdowns during our stay. For starters, the buffet wasn’t open every night for dinner, and when it was, the food variety was quite limited. There was no ice cream offered — not even basic flavors like vanilla, chocolate, or strawberry, which is something I think should be a must, especially for families with kids. The rooms were comfortable and clean — no complaints there. However, the drinks were disappointing. I tried a few different mixes, and unfortunately, none were good enough to enjoy, so I ended up skipping most of the cocktails. The overall vibe of the hotel is very quiet and relaxing, which could be a plus for those looking to completely unwind. But if you’re into ambiance, music, or more lively energy, you might get bored here. Entertainment was minimal, and the sports bar wasn’t even open every day. Out of all the dining options, the steakhouse was the best, though I’d rate it as just “ok” — not amazing, but decent. In summary, it’s a calm place to disconnect, but I wouldn’t return unless they improved the food, drinks, and entertainment options.

We were moved to this resort because original resort was not open in time. While this resort was nice, it lacked much to do in the evening. There was entertainment for the night owls, but not for people that go to bed earlier than the teenagers. Also, it is very spread out and hard for friend to get around, especially to eat at night. Also, the restaurants could not keep up with the people they were trying to feed. We were often told the wait would be over an hour or we would get seated and it would take over an hour to get food. The pools were nice and the bars made good drinks.

Staff was friendly and tried their best to make it up to us.

Some of our rooms had damaged furniture, rooms smelled and the views were subpar. And then we were charged for an upgrade, when we had paid for a specific room in advance. Not sure if we will return.

The option of restaurant was great the food was amazing. Staff was nice and kind.
