"A hotel of beautiful traditional architecture with stunning decor throughout. Its location in Stone Town made it convenient to the main tourist sites and the boat to Prison Island . Despite the heat a well functioning air conditioner made the beautiful room very comfortable. Lovely breakfasts and delicious cakes and of course coffee for afternoon tea."

The staff speaks English and provides concierge service (directions, booking drivers/transportation and excursions). They were all concerned for my well-being and safety. "The property was in a good location to get to Stone Town and the ferry. Booking thru Expedia led to some confusion at checkout as their Expedia payment system was initially declined so we had to go on Expedia chat followed by a phone call to the facility to straighten everything out. Expedia could make that process much less confusing. The included breakfast was a nice treat and while I mostly take the stairs, the elevator was not working for half our stay. Overall though the stay was lovely...

"Stunning Hotel in the heart of Stone Town. So much character and charm! Sitting on the balcony watching the streets below was an absolute treat - as was the rooftop restaurant. We tried the seafood tasting menu which included some real gems along with some unfamiliar taste combinations. The call for prayer at the nearby mosque was quite loud - at 5.10 in the morning - but we quickly fell asleep again in the nice 4-poster bed. "
