This was our 2nd stay and it didn’t disappoint. Both times we have stayed 1 night as a stop over between flights.
The service is excellent, friendly, helpful and welcoming. You get the feeling nothing would be too much trouble. We were also given a surprise upgrade this trip, which was very welcome for our family of 3.

AC residence isn't what you expect from your normal hotel stay. There is no hotel lobby, there is no reception as it's located on the third floor of shophouses. However don't let it fool you! We arrived after midnight due to flight delays, yet when we messaged the property, we were immediately welcomed at the door. Once inside, we were shown to our room which was pleasantly quite spacious! It was simple but yet so cosy. The room was also really clean and tidy.

Very conveniently located opposite Centre Point Shopping Centre and 200 metres from the waterfront dining precinct. This property offers immaculately clean rooms with private bathrooms and good air conditioning. Don’t expect hotel like facilities (gym, front desk etc), but if you just want a room to base yourself for your Sabah adventures, this is a great find!

Spectacular island resort. Room / villa was amazing with the most wonderful shampoo / conditioner etc. Only two slight negatives - when i arrived my room was not ready and for 2 hours i sat in the heat without access to my luggage to get my swimmers for a refreshing dip in the pool. And the other was the food - after having been in KK experiencing the street food and my other hotel's food, the resort food was a little ordinary, particularly given the cost of in-resort food. it was bountiful but...

4 tips for savvy savings when booking a hotel in Kota Kinabalu
Book for the cheapest times: The most affordable time to visit Kota Kinabalu is during March, May, and November, when hotel prices tend to be lower. To make the most of your trip while on a budget, it’s recommended to stay for at least 2 to 3 days. This duration allows you to comfortably explore the city's key landmarks and cultural attractions. Highlights include the stunning natural parks, captivating historical sites, and opportunities for boating, diving, and snorkelling. Additionally, you can enjoy relaxing at the marina or shopping at local markets, making your visit not only enriching but also great value for money.
Look for last-minute deals on Hotels.com: To secure great hotel prices in Kota Kinabalu, visit the Deals or Last-Minute Deals sections on Hotels.com, where you may discover discounted accommodation options as your travel date approaches. Consider enabling email alerts or push notifications to stay updated on flash sales and special promotions that could help you save. Additionally, the Smart Shopping feature available in the app allows you to compare hotel prices and amenities, ensuring you have all the information you need. With these tools, you’re more likely to find the best deals for your last-minute getaway.
Be flexible with dates: Prices may fluctuate due to factors such as the hotel's location, star rating, and the time of year, so being flexible with your travel dates could help you save on your stay at a hotel in Kota Kinabalu. For those seeking distinctive accommodations, boutique hotels often provide a more personalised experience and may offer better value. When you book through Hotels.com, we will inform you whether the price for your chosen dates is above or below the average. If the price is on the higher end, we’ll suggest more economical dates, which could help you secure a better deal.
Consider your location: Hotels situated near the city centre usually tend to be more expensive, but thanks to Kota Kinabalu's excellent public transport links, you may discover a more affordable independent hotel further afield that remains well connected. For those keen to venture into alternative, less crowded neighbourhoods or even lesser-known nearby towns, there is often great value to be found. Opting for these alternative destinations could provide a more authentic and budget-friendly experience.
