Where to stay in Nusa Dua

Exploring Nusa Dua

Located at the southern tip of the tropical holiday island of Bali, Nusa Dua is a gated, purpose-built enclave of international five-star resort and spa hotels set along the beautiful Nusa Dua Beach. The complex is some 40 kilometres from Bali’s capital, Denpasar, and its international airport, and its beach areas are private to resort residents. The beach itself runs into a public area at Geger Beach, just beyond the western edge of the huge complex.

Nusa Dua Bali Beach itself boasts two separate coral reefs which are rich in marine life and perfect for diving and snorkelling, and the resorts all offer a variety of other water sports for their guests’ enjoyment. A favourite occupation here is sipping cocktails on the soft, white sands while watching the glorious sunset. The beach is suitable for families with children as its sheltered nature and shallow slope allows for gentle waves and safe swimming. It’s also kept amazingly clean and uncluttered.

Sightseeing in Nusa Dua

- Pasifika Museum

This seldom-visited museum is a hidden treasure for its displays of the arts of Bali, the South Pacific, and the Southeast Asian region. Bali was once home to a number of famed Western artists, and renowned local artists’ work is displayed here as well. The Polynesian gallery holds impressive displays of traditional crafts, as does the Indo Chinese room, and works by Paul Gauguin and Theo Meier are the highlights. The museum is located close by the Bali Collection.

- Thalasso Bali Spa

If you’re staying off-complex and desperately need relaxation and renewal, the Thalasso Bali Spa is set right on the beach and offers beauty and stress-reduction thalassotherapy treatments based on salt water and seaweed. Famous since the Ancient Greek era for its rejuvenating effect, this therapy is unique to the spa.

Transportation in Nusa Dua

Hotels on the complex offer shuttle buses from Denpasar International Airport, and taxis are easily found outside the Arrivals hall, with the journey taking around half an hour door to door. Public transport in the area is scarce, although a few bemos run between the capital and Nusa Dua, as well as between the complex and other beaches in the area.
