Sightseeing in Krabi

- Shell Fossil Beach

The 40-million-year-old fossils found on the aptly named beach are only visible when the tide is low and this is an ideal place to visit for those traveling with children or who have an interest in the subject. The best way to get to Fossil Shell Beach is to take a 20-minute songthaew journey from Krabi Town.

- Railay Beach

Krabi's best known beach is well known for its upmarket accommodation and laid-back eateries, but the star attraction is the sandy beach itself and the outstanding surrounding scenery. Only accessible by boat, the beach keeps its cool character despite being visited by masses during peak season. Divided between East Railay and West Railay, visitors can choose to visit both or stay in either side.

Transportation in Krabi

The best way to get around on dry land in Krabi is by hire car or local taxi, known as songthaew. Metered taxis are also available although not in large numbers and the roads throughout the province can be dangerous so it is best not to hire a motorbike unless you are an experienced rider.

Long tail boats are used to get around the island with a few larger boats for those who wish to enjoy an organised tour with larger numbers. Krabi is home to Krabi Airport (KBV), which serves the province and many of the area's visitors arrive by plane. The airport is located 15kms from Krabi Town and some hotels provide shuttle transfers to and from the airport.
