Top neighbourhoods in Old Hickory
Green Hill
Green Hill delivers a peaceful suburban escape just minutes from Nashville's bright lights. Tree-lined streets wind past well-maintained family homes where kids play in yards and neighbors chat. While lacking tourist attractions, you're just a short drive from Old Hickory Lake and Cumberland River where outdoor adventures await. The neighborhood's natural rolling terrain makes morning walks a refreshing start to your day. Your dining options are limited within Green Hill itself, so plan on driving to nearby commercial areas for meals. Most visitors stay in holiday rental homes that offer authentic suburban living. A car is essential here—public transit is minimal and ride-shares might require patience.
Lakewood
Lakewood offers a peaceful retreat where suburban comfort meets lakeside leisure. Old Hickory Lake is the star attraction, perfect for fishing, boating, or simply watching the sunset paint the water. Tree-lined streets with spacious homes create an authentic slice of American suburban life away from Nashville's urban energy. Getting around requires a car, but the tradeoff is worth it for the quiet and space. Holiday rentals and lakeside cabins make up most accommodation options, giving you room to spread out. The area has limited dining choices, so stock up that kitchen or plan short drives for meals.
