The Coast Hotel

 

One of Coffs Harbour’s oldest pubs, The Coast has a rain forest-themed main bar and a spacious terrace for balmy evenings. There’s a cool cocktail bar with DJs upstairs, and acoustic music during the week, with live bands on weekends.

With a young population, and being a popular destination for backpackers, Coffs Harbour is one of the best towns on the coast if it's live music you're looking for. You’ll find touring bands and local musicians taking to the stages of the city’s pubs almost every night of the week.

 

The Hoey Moey

 

Behind Park Beach, the Hoey Moey’s beer garden is ideal for a cool drink on a hot afternoon. Popular with the backpacker crowd, things really heat up in the evenings, and the gig room hosts touring Australian and international acts.

The Plantation Hotel

 

The “Planto” plays host to big-name bands and touring acts on its main stage, which also converts into a dance club with top DJs. The palm-lined beer garden is the perfect chill-out area.

Outside Coffs Harbour

 

Travel outside Coffs Harbour and you’ll find more intimate pubs and smaller crowds. The locals are friendly, and there’ll usually be a relaxed beer garden or a cozy bar. The pubs are often among the best places for a meal. Most also offer entertainment, ranging from local musicians to big-screen sports.

Built in 1901, the Federal Hotel on Bellingen’s main street features an elegant latticework verandah, and is a welcoming country pub frequented by locals. There’s regular live music, with the emphasis on folk and jazz.

Cinema and theatre in Coffs Harbour

 

If the pubs aren’t your thing, Coffs Harbour also offers theatre, dance, comedy, and movies. The scene centres on the vibrant Jetty Memorial Theatre, in the heart of the buzzing Jetty Strip. As well as plays by community and touring companies, the Jetty also regularly hosts live music, dance, arthouse and international films, and comedy.
