"convenient location to downtown attractions"

Hotel is conveniently located to downtown and local grocery shopping. Offers a good standard of accommodation with good onsite amenities including swimming pool, laundary and internet. The complimentary shuttle bus with friendly informative drivers is an added bonus. The housekeepers are very oblidging. There is scope for the front counter staff to be more cheerful. Dissappointed that we received little feeedback on a plumbing problem that we experienced, but front desk did offer to provide an alternative room.
"Great location, excellent gym and pool"

Great location, great gym and pool. Room was adequate and clean. Buffett breakfast was ordinary - plastic scrambled eggs. Their green initiative was good. For a two night stay we were happy for the staff not to refresh the room in exchange for a $10.00 discount coupon to be used at the bar or restaurant.

We were very impressed with the Fairmont Empress - the price we paid was absolutely value for money and we were surprised at how little it actually cost to stay in such a prestigious hotel. The ambience and efficiency of the staff was great. We had the experience of High Tea and you really felt like royalty. The rooms were beautifully appointed and a very comfortable bed. I loved the rose fragrance toiletries and the bath gown although I think there really should be two of those in a room for a double. The location was very central and we could walk to everything and the bus stop for the Pacific Coach Line was a 5 min walk so you don't need a taxi if you go to Victoria by bus and stay here. It was our little bit of extravagance that was cheaper than staying in big name hotels in Australia though. Absolute luxury and we had a view over the harbour which I didn't think we would get for the price. Loved it and will go back there if we ever travel to Victoria again.

This hotel was very good - clean and comfortable. Although a little way out of central Victoria, we had a car so this wasn't a problem. We used the laundry facilities. We didn't enjoy the smoke which wafted up towards our room when the room cleaners sat and smoked near our room during their break. This needs to be fixed.
